Where the stories come from
Different sections pull from different places. Natural disasters draw from the USGS earthquake feed and the National Weather Service alert system — the same data emergency services use, packaged so a non-specialist can understand what it means for the place they live or visit. Things-to-do and local history pull from open knowledge sources and verified public databases.
Every piece links to its source when there is one, with references in the post so you can read further if you want to.

No tracking pixels beyond a privacy-friendly visit counter that records which page was viewed and which platform sent the visitor — no IP, no user-agent, no fingerprinting. No email newsletter. No paywalls. No ad networks. No clickbait headlines that don't deliver inside.
Pages stay live; old stories don't rot away. If something is wrong, send it our way and we'll correct or take it down.
